Beware of domain update scam:
We have been repeatedly hearing from customers who received a
letter or eMail concerning their .com
domain registration, most of the times from a domain
registrar called Domain Registry of America (droa.com). In this
official looking letter you are told that the domain you
registered expires soon and informed about the steps to take in
order to keep it.
Don't follow those instructions.
This organization has no administrative powers concerning .com
domains. There scam is that they look up .com domains that
expire soon and get your contact data from the
whois data. By filling out the forms provided (which
includes telling them your credit card data) you sign a contract
and make them your domain service provider. Most of the time you
pay significantly more than before. If you have registered your
domain with United States Domain Registration, there is no need
to get in touch with any other company or organization. Please
ignore any letters from Domain Registry of America. You will
automatically receive eMails from us when your domain needs
attention or updating.
